Intern at Santa Clara Elementary! We are proud to have such a hard working intern! Whether its skill or luck, every "big fish" story shared at a family reunion can be traced back to a fisherman that had their line in the water.
Since 2016, we now have nearly 400 departments & companies with their line in our talent waters. While not every catch is a "trophy fish", our employers have some big fish stories! Uelese Matavao is making the most of his senior year at Pine View High School.
When he's not locking down the defense on the field, he has been pursuing his career off the field. As Uelese put it during the qualifying workshops, "I want to help others, especially my elders". For him, it's about choosing a career that makes a positive difference. To accomplish this, Uelese earned an internship with Tri-Fit Therapy. Tri-Fit, contracts with the Veteran Affairs network and offers rehab to our Military Veterans like Mike P. (pictured). Thank you Tri-Fit Therapy & Uelese Matavao for being rockstars in our community! Congratulations to Cooper Mills of Pine View High School View High School for landing his internship with St. George Eye Center. Cooper was the first of 120 students competing in the Washington County School Districts Washk12 Internship program to secure his internship for the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year!
Stories like Chance Williamson provide hope and many of us can relate. We are so proud of his drive to find his passion. Many would have quit and blamed someone, but Chance showed his true character and found his passion! Thank you Chance for sharing this and thank you Steel Creations for making a REAL difference in our community!
His Story.... "My Internship started with a desire to work on cars and turned into something completely different. My name is Chance Williamson, I am 18 years old, and I have done the internship program for 3 years now. I started off my high school internship as a mechanic and after a year I hated working on cars. After I finished the year off I started to look for new things and I came across welding, so I gave it a try! I loved it and wasn't half bad at it either. That summer I worked as a welder building gates and was able to continue my internship for welding as soon as school came back around. After a while working in that shop I decided I didn't like the way things were ran, so once again I was out to find new beginnings. I was able to find a local small business called Steel Creations and applied right at the beginning of my senior year. I got in and have got to know/love everyone I work with. It is a very professional and respected work environment. Throughout my high school work experiences I have learned a lot about many things but just in this past year, the wonderful people at Steel Creations have taught me so much more about life and work then I could have thought possible. I feel that if you do not love what you do, you cannot be happy and that is what this program is for. Go out find what you love and try new things, I was able to find this internship program and I am forever in debt. Personally my work has become my second family and that's how they treat me. Getting into this industry so young is good but it's hard to earn the respect from most other employees but not here. I was amazed to see how fairly treated I was and how welcome I felt even on my first day. In my 3 years of work experience I've never been apart of something so genuine and respectable. I have never looked back once sense starting at Steel Creations and I don't plan on going anywhere for a really long time. So I want to give a Huge thank you to Shane, Carla, and the entire Steel Creation family for giving me a safe work environment, Teaching me more things then I could have never figured out on my own, and allowing me to be able to wake up and be excited to go to work. I love my job thanks to you!" -Chance Williamson |
